This world famous railway experience is on the must do list for most people when visiting Cairns and Port Douglas.

There are many famous railway journeys around the world and the breath taking beauty of the Kuranda Scenic Railway is right up there with the best of them.

Construction of the railway began in 1886 with completion in 1891. This was a significant event in the unfolding fortunes of far north Queensland which ultimately led to the further development of Cairns as the regional centre.

Today Kuranda Scenic Rail is one of the many marvels that attract visitors to the region. A key feature of your day exploring the combined wonders of the ancient rain forest, the Skyrail Cableway and Kuranda, the village in the rain forest.

We recommend the Kuranda Scenic Railway to return from Kuranda after arriving there via the Skyrail Cableway.

Trains depart Kuranda at 2:00pm and 3:30 seven days a week and coach transfers await to take you back to your accommodation at The Mango Tree, or your car at the Skyrail terminal.
