Port Douglas Fishing – Reef, Inlet and Estuary
The Port Douglas fishing industry is alive and thriving with many commercial fishing charters and professional fishermen. Long before the many accommodation houses were constructed Port Douglas was a quaint and quiet little fishing village. For many people it’s still just that today. Ironically tourism has played a vital role in keeping up the tradition. The old port is now world famous for access to the Great Barrier Reef but also for world class fishing and the awesome bounty of the Coral Sea.
“The reef to the salt water inlet of Port Douglas offers you a unique fishing experience. Whether you are a seasoned fisherman or a complete novice.
Locally operated Port Douglas fishing charters offer you the choice of full day trips to the reef. Because of Port Douglas’s location you get to the reef quicker and have a longer time to fish. Catch Golden Trevally, Coral Trout or the Big Red Nannygai who will fight you all the way. Or you can take half day trips in the tranquil salt water inlet. This stretch of water is not effected by the weather where you can catch Mangrove Jack and the wonderful wild Barramundi.”
All charters supply you with all the equipment you need, so just bring the sun screen and enjoy a wonderful adventure fishing on the waters off Port Douglas.”
