Getting to The Mango Tree
Cairns International Airport is a one hour scenic drive along the spectacular Captain Cook Highway travelling north from Cairns. Once you turn into Port Douglas Road take the next left turn after the fire and ambulance stations (about 2km) and then turn immediately right parallel to Port Douglas Road. Your accommodation at The Mango Tree is then on the left about 500m along.
If you need transport to Port Douglas from Cairns we can arrange this for you. There is no public bus service but coach transfers from Cairns International Airport run regulalry seven days a week with operators meeting every flight.

Getting Around
Walking
Port Douglas has well designed and maintained footpaths all over town and it’s only a short walk from The Mango Tree to many of the main places of interest such as the Marina (20 mins), Four Mile Beach (5 mins) or Macrossan Street (15 mins). There is plenty of shade from the many trees that line the footpaths and the short stroll will give you the opportunity to see some of the many beautiful gardens.
The local bus service
Coral Reef Coaches and Sun Palm transport both operate a bus shuttle service around Port Douglas using a fleet of modern 25 seater mini buses. The service stops right outside the front of The Mango Tree, opposite our driveway.
The buses come into town two times each hour usually at 10 to and 20 past the hour from 7:00am till midnight seven days a week.
Day trips
BTS is our preffered choice for a day trip to Cairns or to visit Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures. BTS have scheduled services and will pick you up from The Mango Tree and safely drop you back at our doorstep on your return.
Bike Hire
At The Mango Tree we have several bikes for hire at great rates for half day, full day or even a week. There are also bike shops that have a bigger range if we don’t have what you’re looking for.
Car Hire
There are several car hire places in Port with one just a couple of doors along from The Mango Tree. Hire for a day or for your whole stay and enjoy the flexibility of coming and going where you like when you like.
Reef and Rainforest Tours
All tour operators with one or two exceptions will pick you up from your accommodation at The Mango Tree so there is no need to be concerned about connecting with a tour. Pick up and drop off with most tours is included in the price.
